Kelsonik's 2027 Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet CGI Revealed

Nikita Chuicko, the digital artist known online as kelsonik, has released new CGI renderings that imagine a 2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet derived from Mercedes' Vision Iconic design study. The images are a hypothetical, fan-made exercise rather than an official Mercedes-Benz concept, and they follow a year of extensive updates across the Stuttgart brand's lineup.

Mercedes-Benz began a broad refresh program across its premium range earlier in the year, introducing a mid-cycle update for the S-Class sedan alongside Guard and Maybach variants and updating models such as the GLE, GLE Coupe and GLS, plus a refreshed ICE-powered C-Class. Mercedes has also moved into electric performance and controversial styling choices, including the all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe and the recently photographed, production-ready 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT SUV that spy photographers report is set to debut on October 17.

From Vision Iconic to a soft-top S-Class

The new CGI project traces back to Mercedes-Benz's Vision Iconic grand tourer, a black electric prototype that carried the brand's new 'radiator' grille in a restrained package. Kelsonik previously reworked that study into a notional 2027 S-Class Coupe and later produced convertible proposals. Early renders showed two color treatments, aquamarine blue and creamy white, each paired with a burgundy soft top and presented in studio environments.

In the latest iteration the artist moves the idea further toward a road-going aesthetic while remaining firmly in the realm of digital art. The most recent images depict the S-Class Cabriolet finished entirely in black, fitted with oversized Y-spoke black aftermarket wheels and a visibly lowered stance. The fabric roof is shown in a burgundy tone in earlier proposals, while the most recent black exterior is contrasted against an all-white interior in the new scenes. Backgrounds place the car on mountain passes, suggesting a long grand tour, and the set includes side-by-side comparisons with earlier versions to highlight the imagined changes.

These renderings are unofficial. They illustrate one designer's interpretation of how elements from the Vision Iconic study could be translated into a convertible S-Class for 2027, but they do not represent announced Mercedes-Benz production plans.
